The Battle of Shepherds Hay

As part of the Hideous Scar Competition currently being run by hideously scarred specimens CI and JW:

George has unearthed this ancient and faded, black & white scar image from my Morris Dancing Days...

Pitiful though this scar may look to the naked eye, this was a fearful battle of Bells and Big Sticks, following a performance of Shepherds Hay that went disastrously awry. Thank Heavens you can't see the blood!

Nice one, Dolores. I've laughed so much I'm in stitches.

Thank you, JW (you should have seen the other girl...)

Dolores - you wield a long gavel with mighty aplomb! And the courtroom drama moves on apace! The truth shall be laid bare!

Well, how very kind, CI...

I think I may feel a judgement coming on!

I'm a little bit puzzled by the gleam around your your left eye. Is it warpaint? Are you really as fierce as is depicted? Can you really balance on one foot for so long? Is that an ankle chain I spy?

So many questions...
:-)

No, CI - that Gleam is the pure Thrill of the Hay! But Yes, I'm probably Exactly that fierce!
(Luckily, my fierce stick comes in handy when I feel a totter coming on).
And that's actually my Morris bells that you spy! (my ankle chain is under my sock)

Thank you deeply, CI, for your very kind interest!

Yes, Dolores. But I'm really interested in your attire. Is that a tyre around your waist?
:-)

CI's right. There are so many questions.

Why are you dancing on an oil slick?

Dolores Doolittle said...

It's my Spare one, CI...

JW - the oil slick is the same principle as the recent decision to drench motor racing circuits with water - Skidding is so exciting!

I like all these questions and answers!

Did the dancing make you tyred?
:-)

Aha, I have located you again, Dolores. I recognised your picture. Hardly flattering but..

I'm now trying An Experiment, gawd know if it will work. I'm commenting with my Wordpress ID, but it will probably go Horribly Wrong!

Hello Ara - splendid to see you (but how you've changed, coming across from Your Place)! What is the meaning of that sign?

Luckily, a simple click on the name is a speedy link to your Home for Unwanteds.

Your fiendish experiment is surely a success!

Ooh, well it did work, well sort of. I actually have a Blogger ID too. Well how bizarre, Dolores.

What I am trying to do is bring my Avatar with me on these excursions into the Unknown.

I'll see if this works: oh the wonders, or frustrations of modern technology!

YES it did! and there you are, Ara. You have indeed mastered the Unknown!
